As the study of international environmental affairs becomes an evermore
critical field, I am excited to contribute and learn a great deal while
interning in the Environment Research position at UNEP RONA.
As an undergraduate, I studied International Relations with concentrations in
Environmental Science and Spanish. I have had the opportunity to conduct field
work in rural Indonesia, examine and report on renewable energy sources in Spain
and the U.S., and participate in international diplomacy forums in Germany.
Currently, I am pursuing a dual-master’s degree in Natural Resources and
Sustainable Development from American University’s School of International
Service and the United Nations mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. As I
will have the opportunity to study and work in both Washington D.C. and Central
America, I hope to obtain a greater understanding of the environmental and
development policies from the perspectives of both the global North and South.
At this time, research interests broadly include international conservation
convention and the social, economic, and political dimensions of environmental
protection as it relates to human security.
I look forward to working with the UNEP RONA staff and the invaluable experience
this internship will provide.
