Kenya James
United States

Photo of Kenya James Kenya James is a recent honors graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she studied political science with a focus on International Affairs and English. While in college, she studied abroad in Paris, France at the Sorbonne, focusing on multiculturalism and the bi-lateral relationship between France and the United States. Throughout her college career, Kenya served in student government and in many campus organizations.

She has held internships with the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, NPR, the office U.S. Congressman John Conyers and Global Policy Solutions. Highly passionate about the impact of cultural relations within the realm of foreign policy, Kenya’s thesis examined the role of public diplomacy in the War on Terrorism. Recognizing the ardor Kenya displayed in terms of her interests in international affairs, she was selected to be a participant in the Charles Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program.

Currently, Kenya is interning with the United Nations Environment Programme RONA staff as a communications intern. She is working on a project relating to diversity, compiles daily environment news briefs, prepares speeches and assists the with writing press releases. Kenya is extremely honored to work with the wonderful staff at UNEP RONA.

Kenya is actively involved in her community and teaches English as a second language to immigrants in Washington, DC. She hopes to continue learning and gaining experience through internship or job opportunities before teaching abroad and pursing a Masters in International Relations.
