Photo of Noorulain Khawaja I am a graduate from the Pennsylvania State University where I received a B.A. in journalism and a minor in Spanish. Working at UNEP's Regional Office for North America (UNEP RONA) from May to August 2007 was an incredible learning experience that served as a stepping stone to my career as a journalist. It was at UNEP where I first gained hands on experience within the journalism field by accomplishing tasks such as editing and writing press releases, developing a North America media list, collecting environment news from North American media outlets, and updating the RONA's website. At UNEP, I gained a newfound love for the environment and I carried it with me to my future endeavors at CNN and the BBC.

While interning at CNN's Washington, D.C. bureau, I wrote and produced a news package titled "Global Warming" in hopes of raising awareness about climate change and the Bush administration's lack of support for the Kyoto Protocol. While at the BBC, I assisted in compiling a news story about environmental degradation for their World News America show. In the future, I hope to use what I have learned at UNEP, along with my other internships, to become a well-rounded correspondent, one who is easily capable of covering hot topics such as the environment.
